Protocol of Agreement signed for taxi, chauffeur driven cars and bus access
An Agreement Protocol was signed this morning between Catullo managing company and professional associations representing passengers transport: taxi, chauffeur driven car hire, tourist bus services.
The agreement, strongly desired by professional associations, was signed by CNA (National Confederation for the Craft Sector and Small and Medium Enterprise in Italy) represented by Ferdinando Marchi, by Casartigiani (Craftsmen Union Independent Confederation) in the person of Maurizio Di Franco and by Catullo with Umberto Solimeno, Sales and Marketing Director.
Professional representatives were also present at the stipulation meeting: Luciano Luppi for the chauffeur driven car hire service, Stefano Sella and Giorgio Gallo from Unione Radiotaxi of Verona, Bruno Mannella of the Radiotaxi cooperative of Villafranca and Cristian Carmignato from Sommacampagna taxi drivers. The new access way to the terminal, which was suggested by trade associations working at Catullo, is now operative. Thanks to a precise transport space regulation, “transportation service has been finally separated from private car transport”, as underlined by Marchi of CNA.
“With this operation – said Catullo sales manager – we could gain three results, which we wish to obtain also with other associations and economic categories: reserved access way for transport operators for a better traffic rationalization; improved transit speed for arriving and departing passengers and above all more fluent traffic flow around Catullo airport”.
Reserved areas, which are well indicated outside arrival terminal, are of exclusive use of taxis, buses, chauffeur driven vehicles, ambulances and police cars. From April to September, highest traffic period, reserved spaces will be available for the above categories in the “short-term” parking opposite the arrival terminal.
Transport service for disabled will be free, while other passengers will pay “lowered” fares: frequent users can access the reserved areas by use of a card, which working as a “telepass” (electronic toll collection system), will enable parking and access to the preferential ways.
Tourist buses will count on a safer manoeuvring area, that will be separated from passengers crossing, and will obtain a reimbursement for long stopovers due to delayed flights. This project is part of a large viability plan aiming at the general improvement of airport traffic ways and which was started with the building of an entry roundabout, of separate arrival and departure traffic flow roads and with the opening of short term parking areas to avoid traffic jams.
