“Verona airport plays an important role in Vueling development plan” explained Massimo Di Perna, country manager for Italy “Thanks to our connection flights we are also pleased to offer additional destinations such as Ibiza, Minorca and Palma of Majorca, that are not directly connected by other airlines.”
Fabio Bortolazzi, president of Verona airport, stressed the importance of this connection both for business and leisure travelers. “Spain i san important partner for companies located in the Verona area: it’s the third country of destination for our local products, after Germany and France, and the second most important market for imports. Our city is exporting to Spain for 538,5 million Euros, 6,6% of the whole exportations from Verona province and is importing goods for 878,7 millions – commented Bortolazzi – Furthermore, recent figures have shown Spain as a good market both for incoming tourism as well as a destination for Italian tourists flying abroad. Vueling’s route Verona – Barcellona, together with the 21 connected destinations, is absolutely following this trend. It’s worth remembering that the number of Spanish tourists flying to the Verona province has increased by 36% since the launch of the new routes to Spain, last January. We have great expectations for this connections”.
Figures regarding international travelers coming to our Country have shown that Spanish tourists are averagely the youngest tourists from western Europe (35 years old) and have a preference for online booking. On the other hand, considering outgoing tourist flows from Italy, Spain is one of the most chosen destinations in Europe.
For summer 2011 Vueling will increase seats available to and from Italy by 9% with an incredible offer of almost two million places.
Vueling will close the year 2011 with the purchase of 9 new aircrafts and an investment of 110 million Euros to support the routes from its two new international bases Amsterdam and Toulouse and the increase of summer frequencies. The airline aims at gradually renew its fleet and reduce aircrafts average age to less then 6 years within 2012.
