Energy efficiency and care for the enviroment as a strategic investment
In developing business at Verona airport, Catullo Spa is committed to ensuring growth is compatible with the environment and the surrounding area, by consulting and liaising with local entities, ARPAV (Veneto Regional Agency for Environmental Protection and Prevention) and the local area in general. Safeguarding the environment is part of the company’s development policy, which it aims to achieve by continually monitoring the effects of the activities conducted at the airport (such as air quality, noise and waste) and by supporting the planning and maintenance of greener infrastructures, thanks to new technologies and materials. Last year, a large number of actions were undertaken to protect the environment and raise awareness, which led to modifications to infrastructures and new monitoring activities and engaged both the airport staff and its partners.
The company has set out an Airport Development Plan (PSA) designed to gradually take account of the need to adjust to traffic flows and requests for changes on the part of the municipalities bordering on the airport. Only after definitive approval of the PSA has been obtained from ENAC, fully in keeping with the guidelines issued by the European Commission and in accordance with the methodological approaches agreed upon with the Ministry of the Environment, ENAC will be implementing the Environmental Impact Evaluation (VIA) procedure at the Ministry of the Environment, as is the case for all airports.
