BRESCIA AIRPORT. AGREEMENT BETWEEN CATULLO SPA AND INFRASTRUTTURE E GESTIONI SPA OPERATIONAL FROM APRIL FOR REFUELING
Brescia, April 21st 2011 – From this month the agreement between Catullo Spa and Infrastrutture e Gestioni Spa (IG S.p.A.) for refueling at the Brescia Montichiari Airport became operational. For the first time in the history of Italian civil aviation, thanks to the support of the various relevant authorities, a framework agreement was reached which anticipates the use of the military pipeline for a civilian airport. Brescia Montichiari is the first of these airports, but others will follow.
This solution which will allow use of the pipeline which until now has been utilised exclusively by the Military Air Force for the Ghedi terminal, stemmed from cooperation between the Italian oil company Maxcom Spa and IG Spa and Catullo Spa. Of course, in compliance with European legislation, other operators have the opportunity to access jet fuel distribution.
The airline companies that stop over at Montichiari can now use the refueling service at a savings of more than 20% compared to the previously available price of jet fuel. The new fuel price, the high quality of the service provided, the technology prepared from early 2011 to carry out customs services via telecommunication and the new storage, loading and unloading infrastructures and machinery, make the Brescia Airport stand out for the services which it will be able to provide the international cargo market.
The agreement with IG S.p.A. developed during 2010 and materialized from April 1st, 2011. Besides management of jet refueling processes, for any interested Air Cargo Companies at Montichiari, IG S.p.A. will also offer aircraft maintenance services through its certified engineers who have built up a specific know how over the years.
