BUSY SUMMER SEASON AHEAD WITH CHARTER BOOM AT MONTICHIARI AND VIP PASSENGERS AT VILLAFRANCA

BUSY SUMMER SEASON AHEAD WITH CHARTER BOOM AT MONTICHIARI AND VIP PASSENGERS AT VILLAFRANCA

Summer has not yet begun and Garda airports of Verona and Brescia have already registered a record passenger flux: during the only day of last Saturday more then 21.000 passengers have travelled through the two terminals for a total of 40.800 units during the whole weekend.
Mr Fulvio Cavalleri, President of Valerio Catullo, has announced with great satisfaction the “charter flights record at Brescia Montichiari and the traffic increase at Villafranca with the highest records for this period of the year. A busy summer is ahead and the season progresses to overcome the 2006 record”.
One of the main reasons for this positive trend, explains operative manager Mr Riccardo Vergerio, “is the change in travelling habits. Unlike in the past, passengers are now travelling during the whole weekend”. Figures have doubled as a consequence: last Saturday a total of 19.592 passengers travelled through Verona airport, while 19.015 air-flyers were handled on Sunday. People are now choosing for a more flexible travelling time. In addition to that – maintains the operative manager - “the strong growth of the Garda Airports also derives from the  choice of low cost connections available, the good accessibility to the terminal and the excellent  traveller services, which make Catullo a user-friendly airport despite its three million passengers per annum”. In regard to this point, it must be remembered that the airport opened six new check-in desks and has now a total of 34 check-ins, while the cheap short-parking places nearby the arrival and departure buildings have been increased to 300.
During recent weeks, Verona and Brescia airports have also registered a hike in private-jets flights, which mainly consist in large aircrafts arriving to Italy from: United Arab Emirates, USA and all European countries. VIP passengers are choosing Catullo and Gabriele D’Annunzio to land in the North of Italy in order to attend exhibitions, as well as sport and cultural events, such as the Biennale. “Good services and infrastructure, together with confidentiality, are the most appreciated elements according to the Business Aviation Exhibition in Geneva – underlines the operative manager – Sistema del Garda was introduced to this exhibition for the first time last spring and excellent results are already being achieved”.
