                                                                                                                                    Press Release

POSITIVE PERFORMANCE FOR THE GARDA AIRPORTS
IN THE SECOND QUARTER
Verona: passenger traffic is up in the April-June period (+5%),
with airline traffic at +10%

Brescia: cargo traffic is up 29%
(+11% in the first six months of 2014)

Verona, 21 July 2014 – The Verona and Brescia airports, managed by Catullo Spa, have registered a stable and positive performance in passenger traffic at Verona and cargo at the Brescia airport in the second quarter of the year after a fluctuating trend in recent months that reflects the discontinuous and diversified growth based on the traffic segments also recorded by the IATA  (The International Air Transport Association) on a global level.
Verona Airport
In the month of June, with more than 330 thousand passengers transported, the Verona airport recorded a 2% traffic increase compared to the same month in 2013, continuing the positive trend which had begun in April (+8.8%) and was confirmed in May (+6.7%). Therefore the second quarter closes with more than 750 thousand passengers transported, up 4.9% compared to the previous year.
Airline flights handled 609 thousand passengers this quarter, up 10.4% compared to 2013. The 17 new national and international flights which increased the Verona airport's offer from the beginning of the summer season contributed significantly to this result. Specifically, during the month of June service was started on 6 new routes (Barcelona, Crotone, Edinburgh, Geneva, Leeds and Zurich). The scene has just now been completed with the launch of connections to Zakynthos and Mostar. On the other hand the charter segment continues to fluctuate (-24.8% in June and +11.2% for the quarter) which is feeling the negative effects of connections to Egypt (-46% in the month of June) due to the continuing instability of the country. The lifting of the travel advisory on 17 July may allow traffic to pick up for Sharm El Sheikh.
As regards the destinations, during the quarter most of the passenger traffic was concentrated on international flights (more than 70% of the total) which registered an increase of more than 9%, more than compensating for the fluctuation recorded by the national connections (-3.2%). With 1,267,084 passengers transported, the first six months of 2014 come to a close at a slight drop (-1.7%) compared to the same period in 2013.
Brescia Airport
In the second quarter of the year the Brescia Montichiari airport handled more than 13.5 thousand tonnes of cargo, registering a strong increase with respect to the same period in 2013, +28.9%, thanks mainly to the considerable increase in traffic during the month of may, in correspondence to the transfer of cargo and charger flights from Orio al Serio. In fact, during that month the D'Annunzio hosted more than 500 cargo flights. The results of the quarter contributed to the 11% cargo traffic increase registered in the first half of the year (22.4 thousand tonnes). During the quarter the airport handled 7 thousand passengers, predominantly on executive and charter flights, which reached 11.2 thousand in the first half of the year, a 38% increase compared to the first half of last year.
