European Air Passenger Rights Day

European Air Passenger Rights Day

Verona Airport takes part in the fourth edition of this initiative, that will take place in the main EU airports, under the auspices of the European Union. In Italy, the event is sponsored by ENAC, Assaeroporti, Adiconsum ECC-Net

Verona, 4 July 2012 - Today in Verona airport, in five other Italian airports and in major EU airports, under the auspices of the European Union, the fourth edition of the European Air Passenger Rights Day will be held.  In Italy it is  promoted by ENAC, Assaeroporti, Adiconsum ECC-Net.

Verona airport joined the initiative by providing a dedicated desk in the Departures Terminal (tour operators area). Within Catullo, leaflets will be distributed and videos especially realized for the event by ENAC will be screened inside and outside the terminal, in the main traffic areas, to give adequate information to passengers.
The initiative aims to give information about the air traveler rights and in particular about the protection of those with reduced mobility or disabled, also in preparation for the beginning of summer holidays season with the according traffic increase.
Conscious travelling helps passengers to be mindful of their rights and to protect themselves in the event of disruptions and inconvenience.
The day has been presented yesterday in Rome at a national level and in Verona today by Roberta Carli, Verona Airport  Enac Director , Paolo Arena, Airport Managing Director and Davide Cecchinato, Adiconsum Provincial Secretary.
The ECC-Net centers in 25 countries, will have their own airport desks in 31 European airports. In Italy six airports are involved: Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Rome Fiumicino, Turin and Verona.
The production and distribution of unique and shared information materials represent an important innovation that has involved, for the first time, national and European institutions and associations to realize three leaflets for the occasion:
1. The air passenger rights: cancellation, delay or denied boarding as required by EC Regulation 261/2004
2. The rights of reduced mobility air passengers: the EC Regulation 1107/2006
3. The airline ticket cost details, i.e. what the final cost of our ticket is made of.

Each airport will have 1500 leaflets, for a total of 10,000 copies.
